THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Anadarko says its current Calasu-1 well, near Colombia’s Pacific coast, is targeting a large four-way structure with multiple potential targets.
Earlier this year the company completed its deep offshore Kronos-1 well to the south, which intersected 130-230 net ft (39.6-70 m) of natural gas pay in the upper objective, proving the presence of a working petroleum system and validating geologic and seismic interpretations.
However, a subsequent test of a deeper objective encountered non-commercial hydrocarbons. Anadarko and its partner are evaluating the results to determine their next steps.
Also on the Pacific side of Colombia, Phase I of the 16,000-sq km (6,177-sq mi) Esmeralda 3D survey over the eastern parts of offshore blocks COL1 and 2 was more than 80% complete by the end of September.
